A Normal Life:
Shuuichi attends Meiou High, one of the most prestigious schools in
Japan. His good looks and intelligence made him popular to the female
population in school and he deeply loves and honors his mother. Despite
his good personality, he can be a very lethal opponent, and will show no
hesitation once he decides to kill you.
A Relationship with the Fire Demon:
The story of Hiei's and
Shuuichi's friendship is found in the 7th Volume of the Yuyu Hakusho
Manga. He met him when he was still young, with his hair short and
all. They became friends and partners, and that's probably the reason
why Shuuichi got himself involved in the stealing of the Rei kai
Treasures.
His mother was very ill
then, and she has no chance to recover. Seeing no other way, he joined
Hiei and another comrade and stole the Rei kai Treasures, of which he
only wanted was the Mirror of the Utterdark.
The mirror grants anyone's
wish during a full moon, and in exchange it would take a person's life.
The day Shuuichi made his wish, his mother had gotten worse. Yusuke, who
recently came back to life, followed him on the rooftop of the hospital,
and helped him endure the pain as the mirror slowly took his life. In
the end, Shuuichi's mother has gotten well and both Yusuke and Shuuichi
escaped the feat, breathing. To show his gratitude, he helped Yusuke
finish his mission and defeat Hiei.
Shuuichi's Love Life:
Shuuichi had a short term girlfriend, and her name is Maya. She once saw
him talking to a demon, even though he denies it. She admitted her
feelings for him, and was later captured by a man-eating youkai. Feeling
guilty for dismissing her feelings for him, he and Hiei rescued her.
After erasing her memories, they became a couple.

Possesses:
Still, having a girlfriend
and all, he was still mistaken as Kuwabara's girlfriend (meaning he
looks like girl) in the last episode. He simply shrugs and laughs it
off, saying that he doesn't mind.
He may be a tough opponent,
but he never once used his fists during a fight (do correct me if I'm
wrong). Instead, he uses one of his favorite weapons, the Rose Whip.
Slashing it must have given him those muscles, for lifting a real whip
takes a lot of strength, let alone whipping it on your opponents at the
correct angle.
His hair also reveals a bit
about his other personality. Notice its resemblance with a fox's tail.
Shuuichi's other form is Youko Kurama, a five-tailed kitsune (fox).
Fighting Strategy:
Shuuichi allows his mind to take over during every fight, using his
intelligence and rarely lets himself be swept off by his emotions. If
they face an opponent that is suspicious, he volunteers to fight it in
order to reveal its techniques, so in case he loses, the others will
know its weak points.
