EPISODE SIX: THE THREE THIEVES

Now that Yusuke is back to life, his mother, Atsuko, worries that once again, she will lost her beloved son. Every morning, she wakes him up at 6:00 in the morning to make sure that he is still alive. Yusuke lives with it, since he couldn't bring himself to complain for their school's principal has made several calls to his mom. Their topic? Him. Of course.

On the way to school, a student was telling his friend about the pen he had had made especially for him. The pen was dark blue in color, with a golden dragon wrapped on it's body. It was one of a kind, his friend commented, and added that if Yusuke was alive, he would love to get his hands on it. Yusuke suddenly appeared out of nowhere and said that they must have missed him so much. Seeing him, with his arms draped on each of their shoulders, the two ran away in fright.

Yusuke couldn't believe that they mistook him as a ghost. Keiko appeared out of nowhere, saying that dead or alive, they never really got to like him a bit. Yusuke stared at her, remembering the kiss they shared, and felt a little funny inside. Keiko saw him staring and snapped at him to hurry. They will be late to school again. Yusuke shook himself out of his reverie and obeyed Keiko's orders.

At school, everyone stared at Yusuke as if seeing a ghost. Annoyed at this, Yusuke glared at them, and they dashed away from him. Once everyone was gone, he declared that he no longer had interest in studying, and he shouldn't have come back anyway. Keiko was about to say anything, but she saw someone tap Yusuke on his shoulder. It was Kuwabara and he wanted to settle the score between them. His friend asked him silently if he should have thanked Yusuke for saving his cat before picking up a fight, but Kuwabara told him to forget it. Yusuke just waved his challenge away, and said that he will leave. Before he could move, his teacher, the one who wanted to help him, bonked him on the head with his attaché case, and scolded them for loitering at the school grounds. From a distance, the teacher that hated him was watching him, devising a new plan to get rid of him once and for all.

It was gym class that Yusuke decided to skip. He spent the entire period thinking about the missions Botan had told him about. He now carries a little magnifying glass that's used to tell what is under the covered stuff. They met last night, and when he got the gadget, he decided to test it on Botan. Realizing this, she smacked him right on the floor. After all his worrying, he began sleeping at the rooftop, and returned to class by the time the class is over. He found out that his classmates' things, like the pen and a ring, were missing, and they were all pointing at him to be the likely suspect, since he is the only one who didn't attend gym. Keiko jumped to his defense, but his teacher, the one who plotted the whole thing, came to take him away. Yusuke protested that he didn't do anything wrong, but he couldn't do anything to prove it. His teacher, who was there for him at all times, defended him, too, but Yusuke wouldn't have escaped if Koenma hadn't arrived.

With his arrival, he froze time and space. No one, not even the teachers in front of Yusuke can hear, see or move. Koenma was in a panic, for the treasures of Rei kai were stolen last night, and he wanted Yusuke to jump on the case right now. He didn't want to, since he himself is in a jam right now. Koenma pointed to him who stole those things, and prove it, he should use the glass Botan had given him. Yusuke aimed it at the pocket of his antagonistic teacher, and sure enough, there lay the stolen goods. Koenma defrosted time, and Yusuke quickly fished around the teacher's pockets. To everyone's surprise, there lay the missing items. The other teacher, Yusuke's friend, wanted some explanations from the teacher-culprit. He doesn't want to offer any, and quickly denied the crime. Yusuke followed them to get revenge, although Koenma advised that it wouldn't do him any good. Because Yusuke insisted, he thought him how to use the rei gan (see Yusuke's Profile). Yusuke used it to his teacher, but since he's new at this, that one blow will be his only blow for the day. Because he was still weak, once a day is enough. Now, he can set off to find the thieves.

On an abandoned warehouse, Koenma introduced to him the stolen treasures: the Sword, Spirit Ball and the Mirror of Utterdark. Koenma warned him to be careful on his mission, because his opponents are far stronger and tougher than humans and that the treasures can bring disaster on Ningenkai if put to the wrong use. He understood Koenma and set off to find the thieves.

At Rei kai, Botan demanded to Koenma why he placed Yusuke at such a demanding job. With no weapons and enough strength, he was nearly powerless. Koenma admitted that she was right, but the case must be solve in a week---or his father, the great Enma Daioh, will get so mad, it will bring earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in Ningenkai. Yusuke had to bring the treasures back, even if it costs his life.

Yusuke stationed himself downtown and laid on a bench, wanting to sleep. But the moment his back touched the bench, he felt strange, and decided to watch the people walking by. There was a commotion for a child fainted, and Yusuke remembered Koenma's words: The ball acts as the storage space of stolen spirits. One of the thieves have a strong appetite for children. Yusuke put two and two together, and saw the spirit of the child escape his body, and fled away. Thinking the mission is a zilch, Yusuke followed the spirit, and found himself standing at a remote area where evil people lurk around and wait for their victims. He placed a tough look on his face and inconspicuously watched everyone. His gaze focused on a muscular guy wearing tight green shirt and faded black jeans. He has horns that no ordinary person can see, and Yusuke decided to check his pocket with the glass from Botan. He spotted the ball. Yusuke saw the thief, and it casually left the place. He followed it and reached his destination: the meeting place of the three thieves.

The tight-clothes wearer and a short black-haired guy were talking about their plans, and were encouraging the red-head to join in. He doesn't want to because he claimed to be busy. Yusuke chose that moment to interrupt and demand for the ball, introducing himself as a Rei kai Tantei. The red-head fled, not faltered by his invasion and said that he cannot be caught today. The black-haired followed him, saying that the tantei is a weakling, leaving the tight-clothes wearer with Yusuke. The youkai left is named Gouki, who has 12 cases waiting for him in Reikai. He gave it a huge kick on the abdomen when he was about to eat the soul of the child, making him drop the ball. Yusuke picked it up, and declared that all he needed now is the last two treasures. Gouki appeared from behind, and Yusuke dropped the ball in surprise. Gouki enrooted a tree nearby and swung it at Yusuke's direction. He fell to the ground and saw no other choice but to use the rei gan. But when he was summoning it, it didn't appear, and he remembered once again that he can only use it once---he used it already at his antagonistic teacher. Yusuke wondered how in the world he will get himself out of this mess.

Gouki was seeing his victory. He began to emotionally torture Yusuke by increasing his fear on him and saying that a good mixture of an opponent is to have his fear and pain put together. Yusuke is now stuck with a question. How will he surpass Gouki?
