EPISODE TWENTY-NINE: KURAMA'S MYSTERIOUS SEEDS

Yusuke, the leader of the Urameshi Team, was still fast asleep long after the tournament started, leaving the others to deal with the Ryokoyuukai Team. Kuwabara is in the middle of his fight with Rinku and it seems that he was difficulty without his feet on the ground. Using his yoyos, Rinku has managed to lift Kuwabara's frame in the air, leaving him defenseless.

Rinku pulled the strings and Kuwabara braced himself for the collision with the ground. Down he went and Rinku flipped him over and over. Koto commented on his state, saying that he can't do anything to retaliate, and Hiei said to Kurama that no training could help Kuwabara out of this. Kurama disagrees, and he told Hiei that Kuwabara still hasn't done everything he thought him.

Sensing Kuwabara's determination, Rinku decided to finish him once and for all. He raised Kuwabara up in the air and Kuwabara's panicked expression was visible from the sidelines, where Shizuru, Keiko and Botan are seated. His sister didn't share Keiko's feelings and just said that her brother feeling helpless is a rare occasion. Keiko takes pity on Kuwabara and yells for Yusuke to wake up and help him. When Yusuke didn't show any signs of hearing Keiko, she decided to get closer. One of the youkai(s) in the audience got ticked off with her and blocked her path, determined to eat her for being the humans' supporters. Shizuru saved the day by using the youkai's tongue as an ash tray to her cigarette. Again, Botan was impressed; Shizuru is Kuwabara's sister!

As Kuwabara floats higher up in the air, Keiko asks Yusuke to help him. Her cries didn't help and Kuwabara began to feel more agitated as he soared to greater heights. He called Rinku all kinds of names, but none of his attempts worked. Koto predicted that Kuwabara will be through. In an instant, Rinku releses Kuwabara, who was still airborne. His plan was to allow Kuwabara to fall, his impact causing his body to be badly broken. This attempt failed when Kuwabara released his rei ken and pierced it to the ground to soften his fall. The sword then propelled him forward to Rinku, and sword in hand, he literally flied to the child's direction. Rinku prepared for his attack and sent his yoyos towards Kuwabara's direction. To his surprise, the sword managed to avoid the yoyos and the next thing he knew, it had come into contact to his stomach and they were both sailing out of the arena.

When he saw Kuwabara's performance, Hiei asked if that was what Kurama was expecting for Kuwabara to do, and Kurama said yes. Both are now laying on the ground and Koto began counting to ten. Yusuke talked in his sleep and urged Kuwabara to get up. At the count of five, Rinku had recovered and stood up in the arena and at the count of eight, Kuwabara had also recovered when he somehow sensed that Yusuke had called him a loser. However, he didn't head directly to the arena, but to Yusuke instead, who was asleep and leaning against the edge of the arena. Rinku saw his chance and sent his yoyo to tie Kuwabara up and prevent him from moving. They all watched as Koto counted to ten and declare Rinku the winner.

Kuwabara couldn't take the loss and ordered Rinku to meet him outside the stadium afterwards. Since they were not in school (and fighting after school is a typical behavior during school days), Rinku refused and settled outside the arena to stop the bleeding in his wound.

The next fight is about to start and Koto asked the next participants to the center of the arena. When Kurama saw Roto walk towards the middle, he told the others that he'd take care of him and went to the center. Hiei offered last minute advice and told him that he mustn't fight if he wasn't up to it, and that he must make sure that his opponent is unable to fight anymore before he walks off. Kurama assured him of it and his face became expressionless as he and Roto sized each other up.

Keiko was getting annoyed with Yusuke and Botan volunteered to help. Hiei had told Kuwabara that he should rest when Botan arrived and said that she's going to pose as the team's nurse, who will check on their condition before a fight. Kuwabara was thrilled at the very thought of Botan taking care of him and started to prepare himself on her treating his wounds. To his dismay, she headed straight to Yusuke and began slapping him on his face. When this didn't work, she dragged him out of the way and again started to deal with him.

Roto smirked as he stared at Kurama. In the sidelines, Kuwabara had gotten extremely curious about Kurama and asked Hiei where he keeps his rose whip. Hiei explained that Kurama uses real roses and one of his abilities was to use rei ki to change the appearance of any plant. When they turned back to the match, they heard Roto telling Kurama what he thought of him.

For Roto, Kurama had given his sympathy to the humans, which is hard to believe. Shizuru from the sidelines told Keiko that Kurama is no ordinary human. Roto's dislike for humans had become evident and knowing Kurama's relation with them added to his rage. He took out his weapon: a huge grey blade attached to his hands and began slashing Kurama. Because he is quick, Kurama had managed to avoid getting hurt, and Hiei said (from watching Kurama's moves) that he had gained an early advantage over his opponent. Kurama's attitude changed, however, when Roto gave him his news (which was unknown to most spectators). He had planted his spirit around Kurama's house in Ningenkai and in his hand is a button that would signal it to gobble his mother up once he made the wrong move. This caused Kurama to lose his concentration, and the only thing he could do was to send a pebble sailing on Roto's chest using his fingers. A small gash had appeared on his cheek, but hi face remained expressionless. Roto laughed on what he did and commanded him to place his hands behind him. Kurama did as he was told and gave Roto a steely gaze as his enemy stood in front of him. The hand gasping the button was a few inches away and Roto said there's nothing else Kurama had wanted to do but chop his hand off. From where he was standing, Rinku could tell that Roto was pulling off another of his schemes. Kuwabara and Koenma are getting worried. Why hadn't Kurama made any motion to harm Roto?

Koto commented on Kurama's behavior. Roto kicked Kurama on his stomach, but he still didn't respond, even after the strong punches on his face that followed. Roto wasn't satisfied and decided to abuse Kurama even more. He took his blade out again and drew another line on face, creating a gash the shape of the letter X, before hitting him again on the face. Kurama's left cheek is a bloodied mess now and Roto held up his foot, demanding Kurama to lean down and kiss it.

Kurama has had enough, and told him so. He brushed off the dirt that had gotten to his white clothes and Roto mistook his actions as his lack of affection to his mother. Just when he was about to press the button, he found himself unable to move. Koto, also in surprise, announced this, and Kurama took his time on explaining why. He had planted a seed in Roto's chest, which in just a few seconds would bloom and cause his body to explode. Roto realized that Kurama had done this when he flicked the pebble to him. The pebble had been a distraction!

Suddenly afraid, Roto begged for Kurama to spare his life. His requests had been met with a cold no from Kurama who walked away just a few seconds before Roto's body erupted into a garden of flowers. His last words were about Roto's blood being filthy, but can bring about a beautiful array of flowers.

The match is now tied, 1-1. Roto's plan ad backfired and Kurama had won. Hiei knew what happened and only the two of them (Kurama, too) knew what happened. Now that the second fight is done, everyone is wondering what the third fight will bring them.
