EPISODE SEVENTEEN: KUWABARA VS. BYAKO

It seemed as if winning the fight is impossible for Kuwabara. His rei ken became shorter, and it won't be enough for offensive attacks. Yusuke was itching to help Kuwabara but Kurama pointed out that there is another way to defeat Byako. He stopped growing, even after Kuwabara slashed Byako. Kurama hoped Kuwabara would notice that, and he did. Using his last drop of energy, Kuwabara struck Byako, and sent him falling down to what seemed was a bottomless pit.

Yusuke then received a call from Botan. She wanted to know whether the flute has been destroyed, and Yusuke told her that two of them were defeated. Kuwabara peered on Yusuke's rei kai device and all his energy came back at the sight of Botan. Yusuke pointed this out after talking to her, but Kuwabara didn't mind because he was full of good spirits. He had defeated Byako and they are closer to getting the flute from the Makai beasts. But when he heard Byako's invitation to his room, he couldn't resist the opportunity to finish the fight he had started.

Inside Byako's room was a ground covered with hot boiling acids with stones protruded where one can step on. Despite the knowledge of the acids and the fact that it can pulverize him in one minute, Kuwabara decided to fight Byako. He then found out its secret weapon: a ball of lightning coming from his mouth.

Fully recovered, Kuwabara readied himself to bat the ball back on Byako's direction using the rei ken when Kurama told him to avoid being hit by the ball. Hiei then remembered hearing about the creature that can produce balls of lightning that can turn anything into powder and guessed that it might be Byako. Byako confirmed their suspicions and continued attacking Kuwabara until he has no more stones to step on. It's either he attack Byako or he gets pulverized by the acids. When Byako attacked, he used his rei ken to act as a javelin pole and push him to land on Byako's stone. Still airborne, his fist smacked Byako on the cheek, and both of them headed into the boiling acid. The only sound that can be heard is a faint hiss.

Yusuke realized that Kuwabara must've fallen into the acid along with Byako, and he couldn't help blaming himself for what happened. That's when they heard Kuwabara's frantic screams to be rescued. Apparently, the torn piece of bandage was stuck on the rock and saved Kuwabara from being toasted. The others kidded on not helping him, because he refused to accept any help they were willing to give. With two more beasts left to defeat, they headed to tackle the next one.
