EPISODE ONE: I'M DEAD!

Yusuke Urameshi died saving a little boy from getting hit by a swerving car. This is what happened.

That morning, Yusuke decided to escape the growing pressure of school by hiding at the school's rooftop. His longtime friend, Keiko Yukimura, found him lurking up there, and lectured him about school and his future. With a large slap on his cheek, she thought he would listen to her, but she guessed wrong. Yusuke flitted away from her, and was about to go away from school when a teacher saw him.

This teacher pulled on his ear, dragging him back to the school grounds. He had to attend school, since it's not yet officially over for the day. Besides, their exams would be next week, and in order to pass, he had to study. His teacher thought he had Yusuke, when he felt something pop, and to his surprise, it was Yusuke's ear! He had attached the plastic ear and all along, it was the one his teacher was pulling. He blatantly declared that there is no way he'll go to the place that bores him the most.

He decided to go back home, where he found his mother lying on a futon (mattress) while watching television. She was still slurry, and told him that they were just wasting the money they paid for school since he doesn't even attend his classes. She told him that it's impossible for them to be doing nothing, so there's no excuse to why he was home early. Yusuke decided to dash away from the house, since even his mother doesn't believe what he says. 

While walking on the streets of Japan, he was stopped by Kuwabara and his gang. Yusuke wasted no minute as he kicked and punched Kuwabara off his path. He had knocked him down and left his friends frozen to where they stood. As he walked further, a ball stopped him from his tracks. He bent down to pick it up, and handed it back to the little boy that was playing with it. He bellowed him a warning about playing beside the road, then he did crazy antics to cheer the bewildered child up. He left after giving the boy a friendly pat on the head and giving him a warning about playing beside the road. As he went on his way, he noticed that the boy didn't listen to him. The ball rolled in the middle of the once busy street. He saw the boy planning to cross the road, and did. At that moment, a couple was driving their way on their street, their car swerving left and right. They didn't notice the boy who was picking up his ball until it's too late. Yusuke ran and pushed the boy out of the way, and he was hit by the car. That day, he died.

His soul floated up in the air, not knowing the he has already passed away. After he recalled what had happened, he realized the truth. There, she met Botan, the girl that ferries souls. When he asked her what will happen to him now, she said that he has to come with her to the other world. He will live again, and to do that, he has to surpass every obstacle that comes in his way. If he loses, his soul will fled to the place where souls pay dearly for their sins. Botan also reminded him that there's only a few time left for Yusuke, so he better make his decision right now.

Yusuke didn't believe her and thought of things as a hoax. He asked her for some proof, and she started listing all the things he has done in his whole life. This has gotten to his nerves for all Botan mentioned were his sins. but when Botan also brought up the boy that he had saved from death, he felt a little better.

Still, he hadn't made up his mind yet. If there's a thing he wanted to do, he wanted to drop by at their house, then at their school. He wanted to make use of this opportunity and go to the places he wanted to go! So, Botan left him alone, and he set off their house to see what's happening in there.

The people at their house were noisy, and most of them are students from his school. Yusuke got the impression that they were glad for his death. Then he saw Keiko who was sobbing and was saying over and over again that she had just seen him a while ago. Kuwabara came barging in, forcing his way to enter as two of his friends tried to stop him and calm him down. He refuses to believe that Yusuke is already dead. There was still the fight they had to settle. But his shoulders sagged when he saw Yusuke in his photo, and allowed himself to be dragged away.

His teachers, meanwhile, were glad to have gotten rid of Yusuke for good. But another teacher, the one who stopped Yusuke a while ago, told them to show respect to his mother and to the mourners at the place. He then went to Atsuko, Yusuke's mom, then, faced Yusuke's photo. He told him that he should have helped him and he's very sorry that he hasn't done anything to do that. Yusuke was shocked to hear that from one of his teachers, but before he could think about it, the little boy's mother and the boy himself appeared at their house.

Yusuke followed them until they made their way home. The boy told his mother that Yusuke must have a lot of friends, and that he spent his time giving help to those who need it. He also told his mother that Yusuke must have been a very good person.

When he heard this, Yusuke realized that the boy understood him. He told Botan so, who had mysteriously materialized behind him. She asked him if he wanted to come with her now, and he agreed.

Yusuke Urameshi is now making his way to going back to life.
